My birthday was last Thursday and you can read about some of it here. It was a great day. I am so blessed.
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1
I recently discovered this quote by Dwight L. Moody, an American evangelist that lived from 1837-1899,
There are three kinds of faith in Christ:
1. Struggling faith, like a
man in deep water desperately swimming.
2. Clinging faith, like a man
hanging to the side of a boat.
3. Resting faith, like a man safely within the boat
(and able to reach out with a
hand to help someone else
get in).
Lord, thank you for another wonderful weekend…a time to rest and worship, a time to reflect and appreciate the wonderful beauty around me…beauty you created in this world. Thank you for the blessings you have given me…thank you for the opportunity to worship and give you thanks. Please give me the courage to always have RESTING faith, Lord, courage and faith to know that You are in control, You are in charge, You can and will take care of everything…You have a plan, I need to get out of Your way. Lord, please bless my family, especially Andy and my parents as they are aging, my siblings and my nieces and nephews…guide them and guard them, give them the courage to seek you in all their endeavors and please keep them safe.
I hope you have a wonderful Monday…God is so good…I am working on my “resting faith”…what type of faith do you have today?
Mary, what a wonderful list. A great husband, fabulous birthday, and God surrounding everything. I will remember the D.L. Moody quote for a long time. Thanks.
Mary One thing I love about your post is your transparency in sharing your heart with your beautiful prayers to God. They are inspiring. I love the quote from D L Moody. He was a great man of God. Praying that you will have a great week. blessings and grace to you, my friend ~a
Thank-you Mary for sharing! It is inspiring to read of others that are growing on this journey of faith. I, too, am seeking this resting faith. I found you in the Gratitude Community and joined your blog. As I begin this walk of gratitude, it is such a blessing to know that there is a whole community going the same way.
Love the quote by D.L. Moody–what wisdom. I pray to exhibit a resting faith but too often I do not. Great post today, Mary.
And see, 50 isn't so bad, is it? Seems like just yesterday I was turning 50–someday you will be amused at yourself when 50 seems so young to you. And if you live long enough, I guarantee you, it will seem young–smile.
But I totally understand. I thought I was so old the day I turned 50.
So glad you had a wonderful birthday and a restful weekend. I love you, dear friend.
