in 1 month or 10 years, I have to start TODAY.
For me, goal setting is important in a lot of different areas of my life.
Whether it is making a list of necessary cleaning projects, exercise, eating right or Bible study/spiritual goals…I need something to focus on to push me forward.
I like using a highlighter to cross off my goal. It looks like I’ve accomplished something, rather than marking it out with a black mark…I know, that probably sounds silly, but it works for me.
For my GOALS to work I need to use this system. They have to be:
SPECIFIC
MEASURABLE
ATTAINABLE
REALISTIC
TIMELY
I remembered that we used this criteria when I worked for Weight Watchers years ago. I was looking for some specific information in some old notes, but I couldn’t find it. So, I googled about goal setting and found
this article. Please check it out. It says what I want to share with you.
Goals are essential to my success and they might be essential to yours too. Learn to structure our goals in this manner will improve our chances of succeeding.
Improve our chance of getting to where we want to be.
Think about WHAT you want to achieve and HOW you are going to achieve it regarding your healthy lifestyle in 2013. I know what I am working on and will share that next year.
I will be off the blogging scene next week and will be back in early January when I unveil the name for my Wednesday series.
Where do you want to be this time next year?
What healthy lifestyle goal are you working toward?
Lord, I ask that you bless the readers of this blog and especially those that are struggling with their health, their weight, lack of sleep, high blood pressure and other issues that impede their healthy living. Give them grace and courage to make the healthier choice, whatever that may be. And, Lord, as we enter the new year give us clear vision for our health and help us set clear goals for changing our lifestyles.
Lord, I ask that you be with the families in Connecticut that have lost a loved one. Especially those that have buried their children. Comfort all of them Lord. Let them feel your presence and know that you welcomed their children into heaven. Let us not forget the 6 adults that died and their families, comfort them too.
Lord, this has impacted so many people across our nation, may we never lose sight of the fact that YOU are in control. Thank you for the promise of new life. Thank you for the birth of your son.
Friends, I pray for you daily.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Got any questions for me??? E-mail or ask it in the comments…
See you in 2013….
I had a little start when I saw … "in 10 years I will be". The first thing that came to mind is – in 10 years I will be 70. I like 60, but 70 is a little shocking. 🙂
Fondly,
Glenda
Funny. I'm supposed to be writing a post about beginnings, but…I'm procrastinating. Thanks for this encouragement. Enjoy your week away!
I am loving this series, Mary–you always make me stop and think and help me put things in perspective. I will be looking forward to it in the coming new year.
Sure hope your Christmas is merry and filled with all the joy and wonder of the first Noel. I love you, dear friend!
I am looking forward to your Wednesday topic my friend. I am working with the Lord through some goals, which I hope to reveal after the New Year! Merry Christmas!
