It seems I live in a world of flux…things are constantly changing.
The plan for today? Guess what? It got changed yesterday.
In planning events for the spring semester at work, one event has had the date changed three times and it could change again. Ever try to plan a reception with catering and reserve a room on a busy campus for an ever moving date?
Dates change. Schedules change. Life changes…and we have to go with it.
In today’s world we have instant coffee, instant oatmeal, instant soup and instant tea. Yet if the water to coffee, oatmeal, soup or tea ratio is off, then our coffee, soup, oatmeal or tea may not be how we like it.
It might not taste good. Or right. It just might be OK. Not good. Not great. Just OK.
Or…it could be bad.
Whatever…isn’t it wonderful that HE never changes?
That HE never moves. That HE is CONSTANT.
If I trust him to guide me, instead of using MY guidance system, He will direct me…and He will ALWAYS be steadfast. My job is to keep the right ratio of HIM to me. A challenge I do not take lightly, nor do I always get it right. But…because He is steadfast and immovable, I always know how and where to find Him.
How about you? Do you have trouble with your ratio? Or with things constantly changing?
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
I make a mess of things all the time, so I am so very glad that God is always faithful and patiently waits for me to let him run the show. 🙂
Hi Mary,
Yes, I do have trouble with change 🙂 I TRY to be flexible but I get frustrated and anxious when things don't settle into a smooth routine. (If you take this to mean I am often frustrated and anxious you would be right:) I am very grateful that God is solid like a rock and that I need not fear that He is wishy-washy like me! I loved this post and the scripture verses you chose. We are moving soon and these particular verses speak to me and are what I need to hear right now. Thank you.
More of Him. Less of me. Amen, girlfriend!
I am so thankful HE never changes. At times I can handle change, but mostly I get frustrated with changes. And it is always nice to know I can go running to HIM who never changes and He'll understand all the change and comfort me. Thanks for this awesome reminder as my world is changing daily.
