On Fridays I join The Gypsy Mama for her 5 minute Friday link-up.  She gives a word prompt and I write.

The rules:

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. Meet & encourage someone who linked up before you.

Today’s word:  REAL

It’s been 29 years on Monday.  29 REAL years.  29 years of sleeping together.

29 years of working together to make this threesome a REAL family.  Actually, it has been 24 years of making the “threesome” family – the son wasn’t born until we’d been married 5 years.

But it’s been REAL.  It’s been fun – sometimes.

It’s been stressful – sometimes.

It’s been sad – sometimes.

It’s been hard – sometimes.

But all the time, it has been REAL.

A REAL genuine man that God sent my way when I was at the end of my rope.  Hanging on to the knot at the end, just ABOUT. TO. LET. GO.

He appeared.  A godly man, in the form of a cocky, know-it-all engineer where I worked.  And while I thought he was kind of crazy, I fell in love with him.

29 years I’ve been his wife.  29 years he’s been my husband.

He’s fathered my three children and we had the privilege of raising one of them.

He’s REAL.  He’s genuine and he is one of the greatest gifts my REAL father ever gave me.

Happy Anniversary, John.
