Today I am joining Lisa Jo Baker for 5 minute Friday. We write for 5 minutes without editing…which can sometimes be hard. But it can also be freeing. Today’s word prompt is VISIT.
If you would like to join in, you can find the guidelines here.
GO…
I don’t like to visit them. They make me uncomfortable. But sometimes, I have to do it. I have to visit them even if I don’t want to.
Emotions. Those uncomfortable ones. The ones that make me squirm.
The ones that make me not like myself.
The ones that make me say things I regret.
I especially don’t like to visit those!
I first heard about the book a couple of years ago, but it came to the forefront of my life two weeks ago. I wrote about it here.
Now, I am reading the book and learning.. So that when I visit them or they visit me…I am learning to corral them.
Like wild horses, they need to be in a pen. They need to be tamed and handled. They need to be managed.
And Lysa does a great job in this book of showing me how to do this. I haven’t finished the book…I am having to take it slowly. Visiting each chapter carefully.
So I can digest the words.
If you haven’t read this book and you have trouble controlling your tongue, your reactions, your emotions, well then you might want to check it out.
STOP
This is not a paid review of the Lysa’s book Unglued. I bought the book and as I tried to come up with a post for VISIT I realized that visiting my emotions the past couple of weeks has been an eye-opening experience.

I like this post. I too don't like to visit my emotions or mostly deal with them at all. Thanks fo rthe book suggestion!
Hi Mary. Yes, I'm reading it now. After your post about it, Beth bought it for herself and for me. (wasn't that nice of her?) I am almost done, but like you, feel like I could go through it again to "digest" it all. I related to everything in it. It's great.
Great job on this post, too.
