So do not fear, for I am with you;
   do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
   I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10

This is not an ordinary Monday.  Not for me and not for his family.

In just a few hours I will get in my car, drive a few miles and enter the church.

The church where a family will bury their husband, father, grandfather and brother.  He died suddenly last week in a car accident.  Just 11 days before Christmas.

I didn’t know the man, but I know two of his children.

I didn’t know the man, but I know his reputation.

I didn’t know the man, but I saw his family at the wake.

Evidence of his life…a life filled with good, a life filled with faith, a life filled with Him who was born in a manger, grew up, died, was buried and rose again that we might have eternal life.

This family will be sad today, but they rest in the assurance that they will see their husband, father, grandfather and brother again.

Lord, please grant this family a large serving of your grace today.  May they feel the presence of your righteous right hand upholding them.  Comfort them, give them peace, envelope them a profound sense of your presence.

Will you please say a prayer of this family too?  Thank you.
