The new picture on my page was taken in Grand Teton National Park in June of 2007. I think my son, Andy, took this picture. We had made the long road trip from the eastern edge of Pennsylvania to Grand Teton & Yellowstone National Parks in Montana & Wyoming. A long trip, to say the least. I wanted to say arduous, but that is probably a bit too strong of a word! The beauty of these two national parks is absolutely breathing taking; the sights, sounds and wildlife we saw was amazing. This picture is just a sample. As Christians, we serve an AMAZING God. I am grateful for the opportunity to share with you my thoughts and pictures. Today’s quiet time made me think of this picture…not sure why…but here goes….
This morning I was reading Isaiah chapter 40. Verse 31 states: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” I have always loved this scripture. One of my favorite songs is “On Eagle’s Wings”….you non-Catholics may not know this song, but you can read the lyrics here: http://lyricsplayground.com/alpha/songs/o/oneagleswings.shtml
What a beautiful promise we have in verse 31! God will NOT fail us, if we rely on him and his guidance. We will NOT faint, we WILL have the strength to do that which is necessary and that to which we are called. The big question for me is: will I have the FAITH to do that to which I am called? Will I be able to recognize that to which I am called?
Lord, thank you for the many blessings of this day…including the rain. Thank you for this season of the year when we remember you birth. Lord, please help me recognize my calling. Help me to rely on your guidance. Help me to recognize the strength that you have for me, if only I will rely on it. Thank you for the promise that I will mount up on wings as eagles and not grow weary. Lord, please bless my family and the readers of this blog. Be with all of them and give them what they need this day.
Peace….
