This photo was taken on Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park a few months ago. We were driving above the clouds. The beauty of this place and so many others in this great land is just one of God’s gifts to us. His grace to us is another of his great gifts. In this season of giving gifts, maybe we should slow down, stop, look and listen…what is the Lord trying to tell us? This morning during my quiet time, I was reading the December 1st passage from Billy Graham’s book Hope for Each Day. He titled today’s reflection Infinite Grace. It got me to thinking…the holidays can be so busy. We get caught up in buying, baking, decorating, etc. and often forget that the true meaning of Christmas is not about these things, but about the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ so many, many years ago in a humble stable in Bethlehem. Even if (or when) we remember that, as humans we still tend to get caught up in OUR needs, OUR troubles, OUR worries, OUR issues…forgetting what Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 12…that God’s grace is sufficient for all our needs.
No matter what is going on in our personal lives, we need to remember the true “Reason for the Season.” We also need to remember if we are children of God, then we are promised SUFFICIENT GRACE for all our needs.
My personal prayer is this: as I enter this holiday season, Lord, please help me to remember that YOU are sufficient for ALL my needs. That YOU can help me with ALL my troubles, I need to let YOU take control. Please, Lord, help me remember the true reason for this season.

Mary, this is awesome! You are so right about sufficient grace. I remember times early in our marriage when Tim was teaching and we had NO.MONEY. at Christmas, it was so hard, because you saw all this commercialism, and we wanted to provide some of the joy of gifts to the kids. It was a rough time, but I remember each year being keenly aware of God's SUFFICIENCY!! You really hit the nail on the head there.
Lovely. Just lovely. So glad you entered the world of blogging! You have so many powerful words to share.
This is beautiful. Because it's just so true. How often do I get caught up in MY needs and MY struggles when HIS grace is all sufficient.
These are beautiful words, Mary.
