Cross country and track are two sports that are talked about a lot in my family. John and Andy participated in both sports in high school, John ran both in college and Andy coaches both now. I know a little bit about both sports and certainly enjoy watching the track events during the summer Olympics and occasionally watching the teams Andy coaches.
But…if someone were to ask me what my favorite sport is, I would say Division 1 NCAA men’s basketball. Followed closely by St. Louis Cardinal baseball. Not just any baseball, although I will occasionally watch games on TV, but Cardinal baseball is my favorite.
I lived in St. Louis for 25 years. There is something special about the St. Louis Cardinals, in my humble opinion. Not long ago I ran across a book that told about the faith component of the Cardinals and how faith impacts the team and the lives of the players.
I BOUGHT this book, it was not given to me in exchange for a review!
The book is entitled

In this world of mega superstar sports figures that make newspaper headlines for all kinds of things – not always good – it was refreshing to read about professional athletes doing something they love, on the big stage and living their faith at the same time.
There are chapters on David Freese, Adam Wainwright, Mike Matheny, Matt Carpenter, Trevor Rosenthal, Jason Motte, Carlos Beltran and others. Athletes sharing their faith and what it means in the world of professional sports.
