When I walk for exercise I usually have an iPod playing…not so loudly that I can’t hear what is going on around me, just a little music to keep me moving.
I have different playlists for various types of walks. Playlists for really hard workout that include some running will have some fast songs. I use the term “running” loosely because others would call what I do jogging or walking fast! 🙂
Moderate workouts have moderately fast songs…etc. You get the idea.
The other day, I didn’t chose a playlist, I chose a genre. I chose Christian and Religious which included 29 albums and over 200 songs and I chose for the songs to be shuffled. I don’t remember what my workout goal was that day and it isn’t important. As the songs played, I immediately recognized some, others I was familiar with but didn’t know well, and then these words started playing
I’ve seen people get healed,
raised from the dead.
Miracle happen when your prayers get seen.
I’ve seen walls come down,
Night turned to day,
I’ve seen love rising up.
And hate turned away.
Why don’t you follow me to where
the healing waters flow.
Why don’t you lay your burdens down and make yourself at home.
“Why don’t you lay your burdens down and make yourself at home.”
“Why don’t you lay your burdens down and make yourself at home.”
“Why don’t you lay your burdens down and make yourself at home.”
Isn’t that what he is asking of us? To lay our burdens down and make ourselves at home. At home in Him. At home with Him. Not to bring our burdens, pray over them and pick them up again.
No, His yoke is easy, His burden light…when we let him carry it.
I have searched YouTube and cannot find a video/audio of this song. I found it here…I just hope the link works for the long term.
How about you? Are you able to make yourself at home in His arms? At His place…or do you visit and take your burdens with you?
Lord, please give us the courage to follow you and LEAVE our burdens with you. The courage to make ourselves at home with you.

Love the name of your blog!
So often I keep trying to carry the burden and have to be reminded that I'm supposed to leave it ALL for Him. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂
Thanks for the sweet words of encouragement you left for me today!
Thank you Sharon! The name was suggested to me when I started blogging…and I love it too!
Those are meaningful, Truth-filled lyrics. I know that I always listen more closely to the lyrics of songs, when I'm listening while exercising. I had a Christian music playlist a couple years ago while training for a half-marathon. Those songs really got me moving — especially TobyMac and Mandisa. 🙂
It's a joy to have you a part of the GodBumps & God-Incidences community.

Thank you Jennifer. I like TobyMac and Mandisa too. There are some Steven Curtis Chapman songs that I like to listen to when I exercise too. Especially The Great Adventure!
