Since starting this blog, I have felt that I had a mission. I was supposed to share thoughts from my quiet time, time spent reading and praying in the morning. As you know, I usually have a scripture that I use as a springboard for my thoughts. (Although, sometimes you probably wonder what the scripture has to do with what I am writing!) For the second time this week, I am deviating from that format. I don’t know why, but I feel I want to share this with you…
I almost always get my coffee pot ready at night before I go to bed. I love GOOD coffee and occasionally have Gavalia coffee in the house and if not Gavalia coffee, then another good whole bean coffee. When I get up in the morning, I just push the button. (Yes, there is a timer on my coffee pot and sometimes I use it, but I don’t always get up at the same time.)
My first cup of coffee is always black…
No, I don’t use a pretty cup like this. I use a mug in the summer and an insulated cup in the winter. My second cup SOMETIMES gets a shot of this…
That’s right…the REAL stuff, not the fat free stuff. (Have you ever looked at the calorie count? Not that much different and I find that it is harder to manage my weight when I use a lot of fat free products.) My second cup looks like this…
or this…
Again, I have to be careful using the artificial stuff.
That is the way it is in my life too…Jesus is the REAL stuff. The world is full of artificial stuff. I have to guard against letting the artificial, fake stuff crowd my life and my mind.
Lord, thank you for the freedom to share these thoughts this morning. Thank you for the gift of your son, the REAL thing that makes life worth living. Lord, please be with Glenda and Annesta as their daughters are moving far away, please be with my other blogging friends that have family issues, that are stressed, facing big decisions or just need to especially feel your presence today. Thank you for the blessing you have given me.
I hope you have a great day…what is your morning ritual?
I used Glenda and Annesta’s names because they have blogged about their daughters moving away.
What a wonderful way to describe the authenticity of Christ. I want the "real" Jesus. Nothing this world has to offer even compares!
Thank you for this word today…
Good thoughts. As Stefanie said, "I want the "real" Jesus."
My morning ritual is not much of a ritual since moving to the farm. I usually have a cup of coffee along with my Bible and journal. Sometimes I put everything in a backpack and hike up to the garden/chicken coop spot where I sit, sip, and saturate in the Word.
I want to have coffee with you . . . but please could I have the second cup . . . I like milk in mine.
Your written prayers for me means so much. We have 10 days til Christy leaves. We are so excited, have lots to do, and of course, are sad. Thanks so much, Mary.
Fondly,
Glenda
I would love to sit down and share a cup of coffee and a word from the Lord…you have wise words for your readers.
Thank you
Blessings

My day starts in a similar manner to yours – coffee! Not black though!
I loved where you went with this post, Mary. Jesus is for sure the real stuff and we definitely have to be on guard against fake stuff.
God bless 🙂
