Trust in the LORD
with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Earlier this week, I shared that I had received a book as a gift. Along with the book, I received a CD of a sermon and yesterday, I finally slowed down long enough to listen to it. The theme of the sermon was TRUST JESUS. When things are not going well, TRUST JESUS. When life gets you down, TRUST JESUS. When there are financial issues, health issues, job issues, TRUST JESUS. Interesting how things work…I had received both of these items a few weeks ago. I decided I was going to use the book in 2011, studying one meditation per week for the 52 weeks of this year. I intended to listen to the sermon in the first few days after receiving it, but one thing and another got in the way and I didn’t get it done. Yesterday, some things were on my mind and I was a little worried and a little concerned about some things. While working in the kitchen, I thought…”Mary, just put the CD in the player, you don’t have to be sitting to listen.” So I did. Imagine the tears rolling down my face as I hear the minister saying…”TRUST JESUS.” It was just. what. I. needed. to. hear. Just…when I needed to hear it! I think God is kind of cool that way…many times in my life he steps in and reminds me he is there…just when I need to be reminded. After listening to the sermon, I tried to put aside my worry and concern. Then, last night I received a phone call. The call had other news that reassured me that I need not worry, God is in control. All I need to do is
TRUST JESUS…
Lord, thank you for the sermon that you sent my way yesterday. Thank you for your servant you used to deliver it, thank you for his life and his family and what they mean to me. Thank you for the Godly example of Your love that the man demonstrates every day. Lord, thank you for the phone call and the gift from you to reassure me. Thank you for all of it Lord.
What about you? Is there something in your life you need to let go of and TRUST JESUS? My prayer for you is that you are able to let it go…
Love to hear stories about how God works in the lives of people. The person that bought that gift for you didn't know what God had in mind for you when you listened to that sermon. Hope you have a restful and peaceful weekend. ~a
As the weeks have drug on it has been easy for me to lose hope.
Will things ever get back to some type of normal? People were not created to live in isolation.
Will we be able to see someone smile or will we always look at them and only see their eyes?
Will people gather without having to sit 6’ apart?
I don’t know the answer and I’m not posting this to debate the news media’s portrayal of the pandemic.
I’m sharing this today because I spent some time with the Lord thanking him for the things I DO have and not focusing on the things I don’t have. The things I have lost since March.
I looked up scriptures about hope.
I made a list in my prayer journal of things I’m grateful for.
Life goes on. Life crisis continues even during this pandemic. People die naturall and tragically. And babies are born. And weddings happen and new lives begin.
This crisis in our world isn’t a surprise to God.
And my hope and security is in Him.
If you scroll through the photos, you see things that made me smile this morning and reminded me of the goodness of God - even now.
With all the grief and sadness in the world I wasn’t sure how I would handle today. How I would allow myself to grieve this loss? Today when there has so much WRONG in our world. In a post @deidrariggs shared today she reminded us that life goes on. And I realized that today this is my life. And I can grieve this loss. My life goes on... I am thankful for the 4 days we had her. On Friday I will remember each event of her last day and I will remember her dying in my arms.
And I will be both sad and grateful. #infantloss #trisomy18 #stlouischildrenshospital
I'm rejoicing with you, Mary!
Don't you love the way God works?
It never ceases to amaze me how He orchestrates life when we let Him.
Love you dear friend,
D.
